On the 13th of November, Sunshine class and M1 of Parkside House School set off down the A19 to Northern Hope Gymnastics Academy, where they would soon place a joint second out of many other local schools for their performance and enthusiasm in each activity. When we arrived, we were given a list of the events, and they ranged from the vault to the bars, from trampolines to an obstacle course. An ensemble of talented young gymnasts were responsible for scoring our group out of ten for their performances, as well as guiding us on what to do for each activity. However, for most of the activities our students nailed every instruction they were given so quickly, that it left some extra time for the group to get more creative with their moves, which made us as extremely proud.
The range of events meant that each student in the group had an event that they flourished in, however the agreed-upon favourite event of the day was the trampoline, where our students scored a 10/10, for the creativity of their jumps. Some of the students did spins, some did foreword roles, some did backwards jumps, some did tucks, and some ran across the run-up and jumped as high as they could into the foam-pit underneath. After the medals were handed out and the results were announced, we celebrated with a round of mcflurries.
