New Pastoral Cabin @ Backworth
Staff and pupils at Parkside House School are delighted with the arrival of our new Pastoral Cabin at the Backworth site. This dedicated space has been designed to enhance the support we offer our pupils. The cabin will be used for one-to-one interventions, sensory sessions, and as a calm environment where pupils can take time to regulate and reflect.
Both pastoral staff and pupils have played a key role in setting up the cabin, designing and decorating it together to create a space that feels warm and inviting. They have added new resources, such as a sensory corner featuring beanbags, a light projector, and sensory toys. A spinning chair and peanut ball offer movement-based regulation, while a football table encourages connection through play. A workstation also provides a peaceful area for pupils who need time away from the classroom. This collaborative effort has ensured the cabin truly meets the needs of the pupils who will use it. Its welcoming and calming atmosphere provides the ideal setting for meaningful conversations and targeted pastoral work.
The introduction of this space reflects our ongoing commitment to prioritising pupil wellbeing and emotional development. By offering a quiet and nurturing environment, we aim to help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and strategies to manage challenges both inside and outside the classroom. The cabin will enable our pastoral team to deliver personalised support that meets the individual needs of every pupil.
This new addition marks a positive step in strengthening our pastoral provision, ensuring that all pupils feel safe, understood, and valued as part of our school community.
