4th February 2025

Children’s Mental Health Week @ Ashington

Ashington will be taking part with this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week again, as it was such a success last year. The theme is Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.

The more we can understand about ourselves, the more prepared we are to express our emotions and take on life’s ups and downs. Being self-aware means getting to know and understand what we are good at, what we find difficult, our likes and dislikes, what makes us feel JOY and what may cause us SADNESS. It is also about understanding what makes us unique and our fears, hopes and dreams.

This year at our Ashington, Nicola Hall (Progress coach) has set herself a challenge to wear dull/dark clothes for the week. Anyone who knows Nicola will know she is always bright and colourful. We would be grateful for any donations to raise money for this incredible course.

Please see a statement from Nicola below.

I think my clothes are definitely a reflection of me and my personality. Bright, colourful patterns and unusual clothes really draw my eye. I have also noticed in the past, wearing dark or plain clothing does actually make me feel ‘not myself’ and maybe even a bit sad! I will be interested to see how this affects me. A whole week!”
