Building Skills in DT: Learning the Art of Bricklaying

This week in DT, learners had the exciting opportunity to develop practical construction skills by learning the basics of bricklaying. Working alongside staff, they explored the tools and techniques used in the trade, including how to safely handle equipment, mix mortar, and lay bricks accurately.

Learners showed excellent focus and determination as they practised creating straight lines, checking levels, and understanding the importance of precision and patience in construction work. The session encouraged problem-solving, resilience, and teamwork, with learners supporting one another and celebrating their achievements throughout the lesson.

The hands-on experience provided a fantastic opportunity for learners to build confidence, develop real-world skills, and explore potential future career pathways in construction and trades.
