Our first Summer Fair was a huge Success!

Parkside House School was delighted to host its very first Summer Fair – a calm, inclusive and highly successful event that brought together pupils, families and staff in a positive and supportive community atmosphere.

The fair offered a wide range of carefully planned activities designed to be engaging and accessible for all pupils. These included indoor coordination games, Beat the Keeper, Splat the Rat, Limbo and Hook a Duck, alongside creative and sensory-friendly opportunities such as face painting and the popular Sponge the Teacher activity. A variety of stalls, including a tuck shop, hot dog station and cake sale, provided opportunities for pupils to make choices and enjoy shared experiences in a structured and supportive environment.

Additional stalls, such as the raffle, tombola, and “Guess the Name” competitions featuring Jellycats and Capybaras, created moments of excitement that were carefully balanced to ensure pupils felt safe and regulated throughout. The book swap and clothes swap/in-school charity shop also promoted sustainability while encouraging positive decision-making and independence.

Staff ensured that pupils were supported to access activities in ways that met their individual needs, with a focus on emotional regulation, participation, and enjoyment. The fair provided meaningful opportunities to build confidence, develop social interaction skills and experience success within a familiar and supportive setting.

We are incredibly proud to share that the Summer Fair raised an amazing £350 for the School Council. These funds will help support pupil-led projects, giving young people further opportunities to develop their voice and influence within school life.

Overall, the Summer Fair was a carefully planned and inclusive event that supported wellbeing, strengthened relationships and created positive shared memories across the school community. A huge thank you goes to all staff, pupils, families and supporters whose contributions helped make the event such a success. We are already looking forward to building on this positive experience in the future.
