As part of Science week, pupils explored the theme of curiosity through learning about marine life, hoping to rescue a live lobster; although the fishmonger at North Shields Fish Quay couldn’t provide one, they kindly allowed the pupils to save a live brown crab. After learning about its needs, habitat and how to safely warm it after being kept on ice, pupils released the crab back into suitable local waters. The brown crab is a slow‑growing species that can live for around 20 years, giving this one a real chance to avoid future pots and reach its natural lifespan. Well done N1!

Sunshine Class and M2 enjoyed an exciting visit to the aquarium as part of their learning for British Science Week 2026. Pupils explored a variety of marine life, learning about habitats, adaptation, and conservation. The trip encouraged curiosity, scientific questioning, and hands-on learning linked to this year’s science focus.
