Home News & Events Belonging and New Beginnings at Parkside House School
As we step into a brand-new school year, Parkside House School has been buzzing with positivity, excitement, and a strong sense of community. Our theme for this term, “Belonging and New Beginnings,” has set the tone for a fresh start filled with opportunity, growth, and connection.
From the moment pupils walked back through our doors, the emphasis has been on helping everyone feel welcomed, supported, and proud to be part of the Parkside family. Whether returning after a well-earned break or joining us for the very first time, every pupil has been encouraged to explore what belonging means to them – not just as individuals, but as valued members of a caring and inclusive school community.
To launch the term, pupils took part in a range of engaging activities, including scavenger hunts, team-building challenges, and Positive Sleuth sessions, all of which aimed to promote friendship, communication, and emotional reflection.
Throughout the first few weeks, pupils have taken part in a range of activities focused on:
✅ Building relationships – through team games, group challenges, and shared class goals
✅ Expressing identity – creating “All About Me” pieces and personal belonging boards
✅ Setting intentions – reflecting on new beginnings and what they hope to achieve this term
✅ Exploring our school values – recognising how respect, resilience, kindness, and curiosity help us grow together
Our focus on new beginnings has offered each pupil a fresh chapter, encouraging them to set personal goals, embrace challenges, and take pride in the progress they will make this year. Staff have worked closely with pupils to establish routines, support emotional regulation, and foster a safe environment where everyone feels seen and heard.
Already, classrooms are filled with positive energy, determination and creativity. It has been inspiring to see pupils adapting, supporting one another, and settling into their learning journeys with confidence and enthusiasm.
At Parkside House School, we believe that when children feel they belong, they are empowered to begin again, grow again, and succeed again.
