Clinical therapy

The Senior Leadership Team at Parkside House School is committed to maintaining a nurturing, inclusive environment where every pupil can succeed. Integrated clinical support informs our work, guided by a trauma-informed approach that places wellbeing and relationships first. We understand the concerns and worries of parents and caregivers, who can be assured of a warm welcome and an empathetic response. Behaviour is understood as a form of communication and all staff work together to enable the healthy physical, social, and emotional development of each student.

Our Lead Clinician is: Elaine Buckton

Elaine is an accomplished senior leader with over 15 years’ experience in schools and multi-disciplinary clinical settings, specialising in supporting young people who have experienced trauma and mental health difficulties. An integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with a strong background in safeguarding and mental health, Elaine joined OFG as a Lead Clinician in 2024 and currently supports two Acorn services within our North Region.

Elaine works with our staff team to inform their work with each of our pupils, seeking advice and/or direct input from OFG clinicians of other disciplines (Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Psychology) where appropriate.  In the coming year, we hope to recruit an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Language Therapist to our in-house Clinical Team.  The team will work with pupils, parents or carers and key staff to agree a support plan which will become a part of each pupil’s school life, enabling them to build on their strengths and increase their resilience.

We aim to provide our students with a safe, caring and nurturing community with clear, consistent boundaries and high expectations. Relationships are at the heart of our approach and are based on sensitive understanding of a young person’s experiences and the areas in which they require more support.
