Design Technology Takes Construction to New Heights

Our Key Stage 4 Design Technology pupils have once again been putting their practical skills into action, this time by improving our school site with a brand‑new wooden gateway and fencing for the pastoral intervention cabin.

The project required real‑world construction techniques: digging and setting four posts using quick‑set concrete, levelling and securing the structure, building a bespoke wooden gate, hanging it accurately, and finishing the area with new fence panels.

A committed group of pupils showed impressive teamwork, ownership, and resilience throughout the build. They demonstrated real problem‑solving skills and took pride in their work, gaining a strong sense of satisfaction from what they achieved. Their efforts have resulted in a professional and much‑needed addition to support privacy around our pastoral space.

A huge well done to the pupils who stepped up and got stuck in, showcasing exactly what Design Technology is all about: skills, creativity, and contributing something meaningful to our school community.
